 Barbara

She is president of the consulting firm, Bird Consulting
Group, Inc. in Clifton Park, NY. Prior to establishing
her own consulting practice Barbara was a consultant
nurse in the Bureau of Reproductive Health of the
NYS Department of Health and a clinician and Director
of Family Planning in Greene County, New York. She
has specialized experience in conducting patient
flow studies, program evaluations, writing and evaluating
grant applications, developing staff job descriptions,
and policy and procedure manuals, and patient education
materials. She has provided consulting services
to federal, state, county levels of government programs
as well as the private sector, primarily in the
areas of maternal and child health. She has participated
in the production of medical education videos. Barbara
was lead contractor for a market research project
in collaboration with Appel Research and Conceptual
Images charged with designing social marketing print,
audio and video materials to promote early prenatal
care. She is director of marketing for etransmedia
Technologies, developing the local market for medical
transcription services. She is teamed with Brad
Morrison of Cost Control in the development of the
simulation models for ambulatory care resource management.
Barbara holds a BSN from the University of Michigan
and is a certified nurse practitioner in Women’s
Health.

Steven Appel,
MBA
Steve is president of Appel Research,
LLC, a marketing research consultancy located in
Niskayuna, NY. Through qualitative (focus groups)
and quantitative (random sample) studies, the firm
conducts surveys to determine and measure services,
products and images aimed toward specific populations.
Conducting more than one thousand surveys and focus
groups through his career, Appel Research specializes
in getting answers to key questions – What
are the characteristics of my marketplace?; Where
do I stand now?; How do I decide between alternatives?;
What if my competition were to …?; etc. Steve
is a member and Workshop Presenter, Qualitative
Research Consultants Association (international),
regional member and consultant to the Marketing
Research Association (national), and Secretary,
Consulting Alliance (Albany, NY). Prior to establishing
his consulting firm, Steve was Executive Director-Research
Services, NYS Senate/Minority, and Research Analyst,
NYS Assembly. He has an MBA in Technology Management
and Marketing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
and a BA in Political Science from Brooklyn College.
His firm is the only one in upstate New York to

Vikram Agrawal,
MS
Vikram is President and CEO of etransmedia
Technologies, Inc. A native of Bangalore, India,
Vikram began his business while a graduate student
at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has facilities
in Bangalore where the actual transcription is done
and in Troy, NY where the business is managed and
final proof reading is done. The company is incorporated
in New York State. He has brought together the highly
skilled workforce of Bangalore, India’s technology
center, lower labor costs and a 10 ½ hour
time difference to create a transcription service
for US physicians and businesses that is rapid,
highly accurate and cost effective. All medical
transcription services are encrypted, secure, and
in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Transcribed
records are returned to the originating office within
24 hours. He is associated with Bird Consulting
Group developing a local market for medical records
transcription. Vikram holds a MS in Computer Science
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Brad Morrison,
MS, MBA
Brad is a consultant specializing in profit
and cash flow improvement projects, discrete event
simulation, management and industrial engineering,
and turnaround management. He is president of the
consulting firm, Cost Control located in Palatine
Bridge, NY. Brad worked for Eastman Kodak Co. and
Remington Arms. He has an MBA from Syracuse University
and an MS in Industrial and Management Engineering
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also
certified in Production and Inventory Management
by APICS. He is teamed with Barbara Bird in the
development of the Ambulatory Care Simulations.
